AR Project Summary (at least 250 words):

The current Action Research project is going very well in determining the relationship between benchmarks and standardized test scores.  The data for the 09-10 and 10-11 math curriculum has been collected using the online program DMAC.  The benchmark data has been collected and compared to results from the standardized test scores.  The information has shown students that struggle on the benchmarks in turn struggle on their standardized test scores.  The intern is in the process of creating a tutorial session in which students with low scores attend.   The curriculum of the tutorial session will be properly aligned with the objectives missed on the benchmarks throughout the year.  The intern has provided a categorized summary of information to the math teachers and content mastery.  The intern is also in the process of encouraging all teachers to engage in different instructional areas any chance they have.  We are asking the non core classes to offer instruction which requires thought in other areas of instruction.  After conducting the action research plan the intern feels each teacher should conduct their own action research project by subject.  We have recently hired two content mastery teachers in which can administer tutorials if necessary.  Information is broken down based on race, color, gender, and socio economic status.  The additional change that the intern has made to the plan is a tutorial session for showing teachers how to use the data.  There was so much of an abundance of data but easily evaluated once the information presented is understood.  It will be important to communicate to teachers the desired results from the study. The project will provide an indication of which students that needs help in preparation for the standardize test.
